It is now common now to hear leaks and rumours about an upcoming device, let it be an entry level phone or a flagship one, despite taking all the possible measures taken by the company. Google is reportadly working on two Pixel devices this year which will succeed the last year’s Pixel devices – Pixel & Pixel XL. The first generation of Google Pixel devices has set good pltform for this year’s Pixel phones. A recent post on Android Authority claims to have revealed the Pixel 2 specifications.
It was a rumour that Gooogle is working on three Pixel phones this year, codenamed – Walleye, Muskie & Taimen. Walleye & Muskie are the successors of Pixel & Pixel XL, while the Taimen is a completely new range of Pixel devices with a big screen at 5.99″ size and also less bezels compared to last years Pixel XL. However, now a report from Android Police claims that Google has dropped the idea of middle sized Muskie & are focusing on Taimen to compete with phones like Samsung Galaxy S8 & Galaxy Note 8. The larger of the two Pixels, Taimen is supposedly to be manufactured by LG, it was previously linked with HTC U11.
Walleye is a successor of last year’s Pixel phone. It will sport a Full HD 4.97″ display with 1080p resolution. It will have large bezels and will look like yeasteryear’s Pixel model of 5″. Iconic front-firing speakers from Nexus 6P will make a return to this smaller variant. However, the Android Authority’s source asserts that Walleye will remove 3.5mm headphone jack, which is hard to digest, though nobody is sure this leak. The device will come with Snapdragon 835 & a 4GB RAM. Currenlty there is news of only one storage option – 64GB. But we are hoping that Google will introduce another model with larger storage capacity.
Taimen is completely new range of Pixel devicces which will sport a bigger display than the last year’s Pixel XL. It will sport a 5.99″ OLED display with 1440p resolution. It will have smaller bezels and as a result speakers will be down firing unlike Walleye’s rumoured front-firing speakers. Taimen will cobtinue to sport the glass panel at the back of the phone, but it won’t encapsulate the fingerprint reader due to the huge size of the phone. Just like its smaller vriant, Taimen, will also have a Snapdragon 835 & a 4GB RAM. This larger model will have a larger storage option of 128GB compared to the 64GB storage option on Walleye. However, there is a possibility that it won’t be the only option availble. Unlike Walleye, Taimen will sport a 3.55mm headphone jack. So don’t worry about geting pushed to purchase a pair of bluetooth heaphones.
Like previous Nexus & Pixel launches, this time also Google will try to intoduce these phones in September/ October. Till then don’t forget to check our website for latest updates. You can also follow us on social media – Facebook, Twitter & Google +.
