Google provides security patches every periodically to its Pixel & Nexus devices. Google security patch helps in fighting against malicious programs that could stole your personal data or damage your phone. Therefore it is very important for you to install these security updates whenever you receive an update OTA (over-the-air).
Google is rolling out security patches for the month of July OTA to the pixel & Nexus devices. OTA update may take time to come to your device. You can either wait for it or just download the update on your own. Google has also made available the system images & OTA files for those who want to carry out this process on their own. In addition, Google has made available the monthly security bulletin to help keep a track of updates for the users.
Google Security Patch: download & installation
In order to be able to install the security patch on your own, you need to have your phone’s bootloader unlocked. Using system image you can flash your device back to the stock software. Also the OTA files will update device from the previous software.
There are multiple builds for certain devices due to minor carrier differences. Here are the builds,
